Aloo matar masala/ aloo matar gravy

Aloo matar masala recipe with step by step pictures 


              Aloo matar masala is a north-indian sidedish recipe for indian flat breads like chapathi,  dosa,  naan,  roti,  phulka,  etc.  Aloo and peas is a great combination that was liked by everyone.  Adding cashew paste and butter gives rich taste just like restaurants. Try this at home.

Ingredients  :

. Potato - 3
.  Fresh peas - 1/2 cup 
.  Onion - 2medium sized(finely chopped )
.  tomatoes -2 medium sized (pureed)
.  ginger garlic paste - 1tblsp 
.  Turmeric powder - 1pinch 
.  Chilli powder - 1tsp 
.  Garam masala  - 1tblsp 
.  Cashew nuts - 8
.  cumin seeds - 1tsp 
.  butter - 2 tblsp 

Method  :

       1.  Soak cashew nuts in hot water for 10 min.  Grind it to a paste.  Keep it aside.  

       2.  Pressure cook the potatoes for 3whistles.  Peel the skin and chopped into cubes. 

      3.  Heat 1tblsp of butter in a kadai.  Add cumin seeds.  After it splutters,  add chopped onion.  Saute it until golden brown. 

      4.  Add ginger garlic paste.  Saute until raw smell goes out. 

      5.  Add tomato puree.  Saute for 2min.  Add turmeric powder, chilli powder and garam masala.  Mix it and add salt.  Fry it in low flame until oil separates. 

      6.  Add cashew paste.  Mix it and add water. When it starts to roll boil,  add potatoes and fresh peas. 

     7.  Cook in low flame for about 8 minutes.  Add 1 tblsp butter  (Optional).  

     8.  Switch off the flame.  Serve.

           13) Add water to it. 


           14) When starts  to roll boil,  add potatoes and peas. 


           15) Cook for 8minutes.  


     
            16) Add a cube of butter. Switch off the flame .


               17) Serve.
