Parotta recipe / street style parotta

Parotta recipe with step by step pictures

Parotta is an all time favorite dish that most of us bought for dinner from street shops.  I wanted to try it at home for a long back.  My husband made it for me and we attain 80 percentage as like the one we bought from street shops.  But it is healthy as we cooked in home with love and care.

The secret of the street shop parotta is they used to rest the dough for atleast 4 to 6 hours and adding more oil while kneading.  In home,  we use less oil and i rest it for 2 hours and so we attain only 80 percent.  But it tastes just like the one we buy from street shops.

The process of making paratta takes much time and we have to do with patience.  And so i make it very rare at home.    The truth behind this homemade parotta is that In this quarantine time,  there is no street shops and i have more time to cook and i made it. I served it with empty salna and will post that recipe soon.  Do try this recipe and let me know how it turns out to you.

Enjoy the food  !

Rest it for 1 to 2 hours.  Take the dough and make it into dough balls.

Take a dough ball.  Place it behind a plate.  Use a rolling pin or use your hand to flatten the dough.  It must be very thin.

Make lines using a knife. Take the dough and roll it to make a swirl.   Keep it aside.  Make all the dough balls like this.  Use your hand to flatten the dough.

Heat the tawa.  Place the flatten dough.  Drizzle oil around it.  Cook for 1 min in medium to high flame.  Flip it.  Again cook for 1 min.

Take it out.  Similarly make all the parottas.  Place 2-3 parattos  one by one when it is warm,  tap the sides using your two hands.  You can get the layers.  Enjoy the parotta with salna.
