Green peas gravy / matar gravy - sidedish for chapathi , naan or roti
Green peas gravy is a sidedish for Indian flat breads like, dosa, chapathi, naan, roti, phulka. The creamy texture of this recipe just gives you delicious taste.
We are adding fresh coriander leaves to this recipe. This gives you nice aroma and gives little green color to the gravy. I just loved it for the first time itself. Its a very good combination for chapathi. Don't miss this recipe. Try it.
. Green peas - 1 cup
. Onion - 1 big onion ( roughly chopped )
. tomato - 1 big tomato ( roughly chopped )
. garlic pods - 6
. Ginger - 1 inch piece
. Ginger - 1 inch piece
. green chillies - 2
. coriander leaves - 1 handful
. Garam masala - 1 tblsp
. Cashew nuts - 10
. Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
. Oil - 2 tblsp
. Salt to taste
Method :
1. soak cashew nuts in hot water for 10 mins. Grind it to a smooth paste.
2. Soak the dried peas overnight and pressure cook for 2whistles. ( If you have fresh peas skip this step)
3. Heat oil in a kadai. Add onion, tomato, garlic, ginger and green chillies. Saute until it becomes soft. Add coriander leaves and saute until it shrinks.
4. After it gets cooled, transfer to the mixer jar . Blend well.
5. Heat oil in a kadai. Add cumin seeds. After it splutters, add the grounded paste. Mix for 1min.
6. Add cashew paste to it. Mix it well. Add garam masala and peas. Adjust the consistency by adding 1/2 cup of water.
7. Cover the kadai and cook until oil separates. Stir in between.
8. Creamy tasty green peas gravy is ready to serve.

In the meantime, soak cashews in hot water for 10 mins

Grind it to smooth paste

After it sizzle, add ground paste
Mix well for a min. Add cashew paste
Add 1/2 a cup of water
Add peas
Add garam masala and salt
Cover and cook for 10 - 15 mins in medium flame until oil separates. Stir in between
Tasty green peas gravy is ready to be served
