Potato fry / urulaikilangu varuval

Potato fry recipe with step by step pictures 


               Potato fry can be made in different varieties with different spices.  This is one of the normal recipe that is very easy to cook and do not take much time.  It goes well with all indian vegetarian meal. I like it having with curd rice. This recipe does not need any vegetables other than potatoes. Try it.

Ingredients  :

.  potatoes - 4 medium sized ( chopped into small cubes)
.  turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp 
.  Kulambu powder - 1 tblsp 
.  Salt to taste
.  Mustard seeds  - 1 tsp
.  Urad dal - 1 tsp
.  Oil - 1 tblsp

Method  : 

          1.  peel the skins of the potatoes.  Chop into small cubes.  
         2.  Heat oil in a pan.  Add mustard seeds and urad dal. After it crackle,  add chopped potatoes .
        3.  Saute for a minute.  Add turmeric powder, kulambu powder and salt.  Mix well.  
        4.  Add 1 cup of water.  Cover the pan and cook in medium flame,  stir in between. 
        5.  When the water gets dry,  switch off the flame.  Serve.
