Coconut chutney/ hotel style coconut chutney

Coconut chutney recipe with step by step pictures 


                 Coconut chutney is a simple and easy to make chutney recipe.  I usually make coconut chutney with some fried grams.  But coconut chutney served in hotels, especially in vegetarian hotels tastes amazing.  Whenever We get to the hotels for breakfast,  this coconut chutney must be a sidedish for almost all dishes like dosa,  idli,  chapathi,  poori,  pongal,  vadai, served along with some other chutney or sambar,  kurma.  
              For me,  this chutney is plain and white and tastes good but when it is accompanied with other chutney,  it makes the dishes even tastier.  Now-a-days i make other chutneys along with the favorite coconut chutney. Try this recipe.  Hope you like it.

Ingredients  :

To grind:

.  Coconut  -  1 cup grated 
.  Green chilli - 1 
.  shallot - 1 
.  salt to taste 

To temper:
.  oil - 2 tsp 
.  Mustard seeds - 1 tsp 
.  Urad dal - 1 tsp 
.  Curry leaves - 1 sprig 


Method :

          1.  Take all the ingredients in a mixer jar.  Grind to smooth paste by adding little water.  
          2.  Temper with mustard seeds,  urad dal and curry leaves.  Serve.

Note :

           1.  Grate the white part of the coconut.  Do not grate the outer brown part to get the plain white colour for the chutney. 
           2.  We are not adding fried grams,  so Only one green chilli will give you spicy taste.
