Onion chutney recipe with step by step pictures
Onion chutney is a sidedish for south Indian breakfast like idli, dosas. Onion chutney is a simple recipe and very easy to make. It is little spicy and tangy recipe. I usually make chutney recipe using onion along with tomatoes. But Whenever I have'nt any tomatoes at home, i would go for this recipe. It do not take much time to cook and it need ingredients that are available in our home.

Ingredients :
. Shallots - 15 nos.
. Garlic cloves - 6
. Dry red Chillies - 2
. tamarind - 1 pinch
. Oil - 2 tsp
. Mustard seeds - 1 /2 tsp
. Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
. Curry leaves - 1 sprig
. Salt to taste

Method :
1. Heat oil in a kadai. Add shallots and garlic. Saute until it becomes translucent. Add dry red Chillies and tamarind . Saute for a min.
2. Let it cool. Transfer to mixer jar along with salt. Grind to smooth paste by adding little water. Temper with mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves. Serve.
