Idli upma / leftover idli recipe

Idli upma recipe with step by step pictures

Idli upma is a famous south-indian recipe which is made with leftover idlis.  Idli is the healthiest breakfast recipe and it is often made in most of the homes.  Whenever i cook idlis,  i cook few more idlis and make it as upma at evening or for the dinner.  It tastes so good with a scoop of Coconut chutney.
Many of us dont like idli upma as it's texture doesn't look like rava upma. The reason is,  Idli cant be crumbled well.  The trick to crumble idlis finely is to keep the idlis in the refrigerator for 6 - 7 hours and take it out.  Now the idlis can be crumbled easily with fingers to look like rava upma.  Give it a try. Adding urad dal and chana dal gives you nice texture.  I have added little more as i like it.
