One pot chicken gravy / easy chicken gravy

 One-pot chicken gravy recipe with step by step pictures



              Chicken gravy is one of the tastiest sidedish for Indian flat breads like chapathi, parotta, naan. This one-pot chicken gravy is very easy to cook and you can prepare it overnight and cook in morning. It is suitable for busy weekdays. It needs only few ingredients that is easily available in our kitchen. Hope you like the recipe and give it a try. Sure you love it.

Ingredients  :


.  Chicken  -  1/2 kg
.  Fried onions  -  1 cup
.  Tomato  -  1 medium sized  ( finely chopped) 
.  Ginger garlic paste  -  1 1/2  tblsp
.  Turmeric powder  -  1 tsp
.  Chilli powder  -  2 tsp
.  Coriander powder  -  1 tblsp
.  Cumin powder  -  1 tsp
.  Garam masala   -  1 tblsp
.  Salt to taste 
.  Oil  -  1 tblsp 
.  Coriander leaves  -  1 tblsp (finely chopped) 

Method  : 


             1.  Wash chicken pieces with plenty of water and take it in a kadai. 

            2.  Add fried onions, tomato, spice powders, salt and oil. Gently massage the chicken pieces with the added ingredients. 

            3. Rest it for 1/2 an hour or you can keep it refrigerator overnight. 

            4. Switch on the stove. Keep the kadai over it. Cover with lid and cook in medium flame for 2 mins. It leaves water. Mix well. 

            5. Add 1/2 cup of water and cook for 5 - 10 mins in medium flame. Add coriander leaves. Mix well . Turn off the flame. One-pot chicken gravy is ready. 

Pictorial  :

                   Add ginger garlic paste


         Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and garam masala


                     Add required salt


                         Add a tsp of oil


          Mix well and gently massage the chicken pieces with the masala until it coats well with it. Rest it for 1/2 an hour. You can prepare it and keep it in refrigerator overnight and cook it for breakfast. 


       Switch on the stove and place the kadai over it for cooking. 


       Cover with lid and cook for 2-3 mins in medium flame. Chicken leaves water. Mix well


                      Add 1/2 cup of water


          Cook for 5- 10 mins in medium flame


                Add chopped coriander leaves


               Mix well and turn off the flame 



          Easy and tasty one-pot chicken gravy is ready. Serve with hot rice or chapathi , idli of your choice
