Onion tomato chutney

Onion - tomato chutney with step by step pictures 


                Onion tomato chutney is a sidedish for idli,  dosa, paniyaram or adai.  This chutney is cooked by me very often for breakfast. Its easy to cook and very tasty and tangy. 

               Onion tomato chutney can be made in different styles.  But I follow this method.  Try this recipe.  


Ingredients :

.  onion - 2 medium sized (roughly chopped)
.  tomato - 4 medium sized  ( roughly chopped )
.  garlic pods - 6
.  dry red Chillies - 3
.  curry leaves  - 1sprig 
.  Tamarind - 1 pinch 
.  Oil - 3 tblsp 
.  mustard seeds  - 1 tsp 

Method :

      1.  Heat oil in a kadai. 

      2.  Add onion,  tomatoes,  garlic,  dry red Chillies,  curry leaves and tamarind. 

    3.  Saute in medium flame for about 5-10 minutes until the veggies becomes soft. 

    4.  Allow it to cool. Transfer to the mixer jar. Add salt and  Blend well. 

     5.  In a tempering pan,  heat oil and add mustard seeds.  After it splutters,  pour into the chutney.  

     6.  Serve.

         1)  Take all the veggies.

          2) Heat oil in kadai.

        4) Saute until it becomes soft.

        5) After it gets cooled,  transfer to the mixer jar.

      6) Add salt and Blend it well.

      7) In a tatka pan,  heat oil.  Add mustard seeds.

      8) After it splutters,  pour into the chutney and serve.
