Beetroot chutney recipe with step by step pictures 


               Beetroot chutney is an another colourful chutney recipe like carrot chutney, mint chutney,  tomato chutney, etc,.  Kids like this chutney very much. It is not spicy and has a sweet taste of its own.  It is easy to cook on a busy morning. Give it a try.

Ingredients  :

.  Beetroot - 1 medium sized grated 
.  Coconut - 1/2 cup grated 
.  Garlic cloves - 5
.  urad dal - 1 tsp 
.  Bengal gram - 1 tsp 
.  Dry red Chilli - 2
.  oil - 1 tblsp 
.  Mustard seeds  - 1 tsp 
.  Salt to taste 

Method :

         1.  Heat 1 tblsp of oil in the pan.  Add urad dal,  bengal gram and dry red Chilli.  
Saute until it turns golden brown. Keep it aside. 
        2.  In the same pan,  add grated beetroot and garlic pods. 
        3.  Sprinkle 2 tblsp of water.  Cover and cook for 7 min. Stir in between. let it cool. 
        4.  Add all the roasted Ingredients, coconut and salt. Grind to a smooth paste. 
        5.  Temper with mustard seeds and urad dal. Serve. 

Pictorial  :

          1) Take all  the ingredients. 


           2) Heat oil in a pan.  Add urad dal,  bengal gram and dry red Chilli. Saute until it turns to golden brown. Keep it aside. 


            3) In the same pan,  add garlic pods and grated beetroot.


           4) sprinkle 2 tblsp of water.  Cover and cook for 7 min in low flame.  Stir in between. Let it cool.


          5) Transfer all the roasted ingredients into mixer jar along with grated coconut and salt.


         6) Grind to smooth consistency.


          7) Temper with mustard seeds and urad dal.  Serve.
