Doughnut recipe with step by step pictures 


              Doughnut is a snack which is loved by kids,  even elders too.  It is usually made with plain flour,  but I used half of the plain flour ( Maida )and half of the wheat flour. 

              Doughnut is one of the snack item that my daughter liked very much.  She used to buy it everytime whenever We are going to any bakeries. I thought it was tough making it.  But Trust me,  it is very easy and i made it at home.  I was very happy that I fulfilled my daughter's wish for making doughnuts . This is the first time i am making doughnuts and it came out soo good.  

             I made this with my daughter.  It is a kids friendly recipe.  She was very exicited while making this.  Try this recipe at your home with your kids and make them happy.

Ingredients  :

.  Wheat flour - 1 cup 
.  Plain flour (maida) - 1 cup 
.  Milk - 1/2 cup ( warm )
.  Butter - 2 tblsp (melted)
.  Dry active yeast - 1tsp 
.  Sugar - 3tblsp 
.  Salt - 1/2 tsp 
.  Egg - 1 
.  oil for cooking 

For chocolate glaze:
.  Icing sugar / powdered sugar - 2 tblsp 
.  Cocoa powder  - 1 tblsp 
.  Milk -  1 tblsp ( as per consistency )

Method  :

     
        1.  In a bowl,  take milk.  Add butter,  1 tblsp sugar,  dry active yeast.  Mix well until yeast dissolves.  Keep it aside for 5 minutes or until it gets activated .  The milk should be warm not hot.  

        2.  In a mixing bowl,  add wheat flour,  maida,  sugar,  salt,  egg and the activated mixture.  Knead the flour to make a dough.  

      3.  Apply 2 tsp oil over the dough and cover the bowl with a wet cloth for about 2 hours or until the dough becomes doubled. 

      4.  When the dough gets doubled,  gently knead the dough once again. 

      5.  Flatten the dough for about 1/2 inch dense. 

     6.  Use doughnut cutter or simply use some container lid and bottle cap to cut the dough .

    7.  Keep it in a plate which is greased with oil or butter. Similarly make all the dough. 

   8.  Cover it once again with wet cloth for about 1 1/2 hours.  The dough becomes more fluffy. 

    9.  Heat oil for frying.  Put the doughnuts into the oil.  Fry it in low flame until it is golden brown.  Flip it and cook again. 

     10.  Similarly make all the doughnuts.  Keep it aside. 

     11.  In a bowl,  take icing sugar,  cocoa powder.  Add 1 tsp of milk.  Mix it.  Again add 1 tsp of milk.  Mix it.  The glaze should be thick,  so Carefully add the milk. 

     12.  Put the doughnuts upside down into the chocolate glaze. Take it out. Keep it aside fpr 15 min.  The glaze gets dry. 

     13.  Now your chocolate glazed doughnut  is ready.

       1) Take Warm milk in a bowl. 

       2) Add melted butter. 

       3) Add active dry yeast. 

        4) Add sugar. 

        5) Mix well until yeast dissolves. Keep it aside for 5 minutes. 

       6) Yeast gets activated. 

       7) In a mixing bowl add wheat flour .

       8) Add plain flour ( maida ). 

       9) Add sugar. 

       10) Add salt. 

       11) Add egg. 

        12) Add the activated  mixture. 

        13) Mix well and make a dough.  


         14) Cover the dough with wet cloth For 2 hours. 


        15) The dough gets doubled. 


         16) Knead the dough and flatten for about 1/2 inch dense. 


         17) cut the dough using doughnut cutter or any container lid. 

         18) Keep it in a plate greased with oil or butter. 


         19) Cover with wet cloth for 1 1/2 hours. 


         20) After 1 1/2 hours,  it is very fluffy and ready to fry. 


         21) Heat oil in a kadai. 


         22) Put the doughnuts and fry until golden brown in low flame. 


         23) Flip it.  Cook for 2 Minutes. 


         24) Keep it aside. 


         25) In a bowl,  add icing sugar. 


         26) Add cocoa powder .


         27) Add 1 or 2 tblsp of milk,  and mix it to a thick consistency. 


        28) Put the doughnuts upside down. 


        29) Gently take it out. Keep it aside until the glaze gets dry. 


        30) Serve. 

Note :

     1.  The milk that you are using to ferment yeast should be warm.  Not hot.  Otherwise it will spoil the yeast. 
     2.  The yeast must be fully dissolved in it.  Otherwise it wont get fermented or take much time to ferment. 
     3.  The chocolate glaze must be thick. 
     4.  Store the doughnuts in a air-tight container and keep it in refrigerator.  
    5.  We have used wheat flour, so While keeping in refrigerator it becomes little hard.  So,  keep it in a microwave before serving or keep in room temperature.
