Curd rice / curd rice with carrot

Curd rice recipe with step by step pictures 


              Curd rice is an indian lunch recipe.  It is very easy and quick recipe.  We dont want to cook anything.  Just toss the tempering ingredients with boiled rice. This recipe is my style of making curd rice.  Kids love curd rice very much as it is not spicy but delicious and creamy to eat.  It is perfect for lunch box recipe.  

              In south-india most of the temple will provide curd rice as prasatham. But they do not use carrots.  I tasted this recipe in my college canteen.  They use chilled curd and carrots to make curd rice.  It is soo yummy.  Hope you like it.  Give it a try.  Check out the recipe below with step by step pictures.

Ingredients  :

.  Curd -  1 cup ( approximately 300ml)
.  Boiled rice -  3 cup 
.  Carrots -  2 tblsp (grated) 
.  Coriander leaves -  2 tblsp (finely chopped)
.  Salt to taste 

To temper :

.  Oil -  1 tblsp 
.  Mustard seeds -  1/2 tsp 
.  Urad dal -  1/2 tsp 
.  Bengal gram dal - 1 tsp 
.  Green chilli -  2 (chopped) 
.  Curry leaves -  1 sprig 
.  Ginger -  1 inch piece (chopped) 


Method : 

            1. Take boiled rice in a bowl.  Add curd.  Add salt.  Mix well. 
           2. In a tempering pan,  temper the ingredients given under to temper.  Pour this tempering into rice. 
          3. Add grated carrots and chopped coriander leaves.  Mix well.  Curd rice is ready to be served. 


Pictorial : 

           1) Take boiled rice in a bowl. 


          2) Add curd. 


          3) Add salt. 


          4) Mix it well. 


          5) In a tempering pan,  temper the ingredients given under to temper. 


         6) Pour the tempering into rice. 


        7) Add grated carrots and chopped coriander leaves.  


       8) Mix it well. 


      9) serve with some pickle. 


Note : 

          1. I have added chill curd, as i like to have chill curd rice.  You can use curd without chilled. 
         2. Adjust the quantity of curd as per your taste.
