Pichu potta naatukozhi / road side stall style chicken pepper fry

Pichu potta naatukozhi recipe with step by step pictures 



               Pichu potta naatukozhi is a road side stall recipe.  My mom did this whenever she cooks chicken kulambu.  This recipe is done with already cooked chicken pieces in kulambu.  It is a very easy and tasty recipe.  The taste of onion with pepper and the aroma of curry leaves enhances the taste of the dish.  I have already posted the Naatukozhi kulambu recipe and i have used the chicken pieces in it to make this pichu potta naatukozhi recipe. 

               In my home,  whenever i cook chicken kulambu,  my husband used to ask for this pichu potta naatukozhi recipe.  It can be done with broiler chicken too.  In road side stall,  this recipe made in tawa.  Today i tried to make it in cast iron tawa which is little big in size and i use it to cook fish fry or tawa fry recipes.  Do try this recipe and you just love it.

Ingredients   : 


.  Cooked naatukozhi   -  1 cup 
.  Naatukozhi kulambu   -  1/2 cup 
.   Oil  -   1 tblsp
.   Cumin seeds  -  1 tsp
.   Onion  -   1 medium sized ( chopped lengthwise)  
.   Curry leaves   -  1 sprig
.   Green chilli  -  1 finely chopped 
.   Pepper powder  -  2 tsp 

Method  : 



             1. Take cooked chicken pieces from naatukozhi kulambu.  Keep it aside. 

             2. Heat oil in tawa.  Add cumin sseds.  After it sizzle,  add onion,  curry leaves and green chilli.  Saute until onion becomes golden brown.  

           3. Add chicken pieces and 1/2 cup of kulambu to it.  Saute well until it gets dried. You can break the chicken pieces with the laddle.  

           4. Add pepper powder.  Mix well and saute for 2mins.  Finally add coriander leaves.  Pichu potta naatukozhi is ready.

              Take chicken pices from naatukozhi kulambu ( chicken kulambu) 


Heat oil in tawa


Add cumin seeds


After it sizzle,  add onion,  green chilli and curry leaves 


Saute until onion becomes golden brown 


Add chicken pieces 


Add 1/2 cup of chicken kulambu 


Saute well until kulambu gets dried


Add pepper powder


Saute well ( you can break the chicken pieces with laddle,  it tastes too good)


Finally add chopped coriander leaves 


Pichu potta naatukozhi is ready to be served
