 Chicken salna recipe with step by step pictures



             Chicken salna is an accompaniment for Indian flat breads like parotta, naan  chapathi, phulka, roti and also for idli dosas. It is very easy recipe that you can make within 20 mins. It is very flavourful and a perfect sidedish for Parotta. I have already shared the Empty salna recipe which is made without any veggies or meat other than onion and tomatoes. Check that too. Ingredients  : 

.  Chicken  -  1/2 kg
.  Oil  -  1 tblsp
.  Cinnamon  -  2
.  Cloves  -  4
.  Cardamom  -  2
.  Onion  -  2 medium sized ( finely chopped) 
.  Curry leaves  -  2 sprig
.  Tomatoes  -  2 small sized (finely chopped) 
.  Turmeric powder  -  1/2 tsp
.  Chilli powder  - 1 1/2 tsp
.  Coriander powder  - 2 tsp
.  Cumin powder  -  1 tsp
.  Garam masala  -  2 tsp
.  Salt to taste 

To grind  :

.  Grated coconut  -  3 tblsp
.  Fried gram  -  1 tblsp
.  Cashew nuts  -  6
.  Fennel seeds  - 1 tsp
.  Coriander leaves  -  2 tblsp (chopped) 
.  Ginger  -  2 inch piece
.  Garlic  -  7 


Method  :


           1.  Clean the chicken pieces with plenty of water. Keep it aside. 

          2. Grind the ingredients given under to grind in a mixer jar to a smooth paste by adding little water. 

          3. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add whole spices. After it crackle, add onion and curry leaves. Saute until translucent. 

         4.  Add tomatoes. Saute until mushy. Add spice powders and salt. Saute until oil oozes out. 

         5. Add chicken pieces. Mix well and cook for 2 mins. Chicken leaves water. Add ground paste. Mix well. 

        6. Add 1 cup of water. Mix well. Cover with lid. Pressure cook for 2 whistles. Chicken salna is ready.

Take grated coconut, coriander leaves, fried gram, cashews, fennel seeds, ginger and garlic in a mixer jar


       Grind it to a smooth paste by adding little water. Keep it aside


              Heat oil in a pressure cooker


         Add cinnamon, cloves and cardamom


       After it crackle, add finely chopped onion and curry leaves


           Saute until onion becomes translucent


              Add finely chopped tomatoes


                     Saute until mushy


           Add turmeric powder, chilli powder,          coriander powder, garam masala and salt


                     Saute until oil oozes out


                            Add chicken pieces


        Mix well and cook for 2 mins. Chicken leaves water


                        Add ground paste


                Add 1 cup of water. Mix well


         Pressure cook for 2 whistles. Turn off the flame


  
             Chicken salna is ready to be served
