Lemon rice recipe with step by step pictures 


                Lemon rice is one of the south-indian variety rice recipe.  It is the easiest variety rice among all other.  Temper few ingredients and mix it with cooked rice along with lemon juice and thats it,  our tasty and yummy lemon rice is ready.  It tastes little sour and it is liked by pregnant ladies very much.  This lemon rice is one of the main dishes for traditional rituals like seemantham(baby shower).

Ingredients  :

.  Lemon -  1 (2 tblsp lemon pulp) 
.  Cooked rice -  2 cup 
.  Oil -  1 tblsp 
.  Mustard seeds -  1 tsp 
.  Urad dal -  1 tsp 
.  Chana dal -  1 tsp 
.  Cashew nuts -  7 
.  Roasted peanuts -  1 tblsp 
.  Curry leaves  -  1 sprig 
.  Dry red chillies -  2 
.  Green chilli -  2 (slited)  
.  Turmeric powder -  1 tsp 
.  Salt to taste 

Method : 

             1.  Heat oil.  Add mustard seeds.  After it crackle,  add urad dal,  chana dal,  peanuts and cashews.  Roast until golden brown. 

             2. Add curry leaves,  dry red chillies and green chilli.  Saute for few secs.  Add Turmeric powder.  Mix it. 

           3. Add cooked rice followed by lemon pulp and salt.  Mix well.  Turn off the flame.  Serve with your favorite sidedish.

           1) Heat oil in a kadai. 


           2) Add mustard seeds. 


           3) After it crackle,  add urad dal,  chana dal,  cashew nuts and peanuts. 


           4) Saute until golden brown. 


           5) Add curry leaves,  dry red chillies and green chilli. Saute for few secs. 


          6) Add turmeric powder. 


          7) Mix well.  Keep the flame in low. 


          8) Add cooked rice. 


          9) Add lemon juice(lemon pulp) .


         10) Add salt. 


         11) Mix well.  Turn off the stove. 


         12) Lemon rice is ready. 


Note : 

           Adjust the quantity of lemon juice as per your taste. 

            Always keep the flame in low that not to burnt the ingredients.
