Spicy Potato podimas / urulaikilangu kara podimas

Spicy Potato podimas recipe with step by step pictures 


                 Spicy Potato podimas is a sidedish recipe for rice and can be a filling for chapathi roll.  It is little spicy and tastes soo good with sambar rice,  curd rice or any other variety rices.  The flavour of garlic enhances the taste of this recipe.

Ingredients  :

.  Potato  -  4 (boiled and roughly mashed) 
.  Curry leaves  -  1 sprig 
.  Garlic cloves  -  6 (crushed) 
.  Oil  -  1 tblsp 
.  Mustard seeds  -  1 tsp 
.  Urad dal  -  1 tsp 
.  Turmeric powder  -  1/2 tsp
.  Sambar powder/kulambu powder  -  1 tblsp 
.  Salt to taste


Method  : 

             Heat oil in a kadai.  Add mustard seeds and urad dal.  After it crackle,  add curry leaves and crushed garlic. 

            After it sizzle and you get the aroma,   add turmeric powder,  salt and sambar powder. Give it a mix. (do not burnt the spice powder) 

             Add boiled and roughly mashed potatoes.  Mix well.  Cover with a lid and cook for 5 - 10 mins in low flame.  Stir in between.  Switch off the flame.  Spicy and tasty Potato podimas is ready to be served.

         6) Add boiled and roughly mashed potatoes. 


        7) Mix well.  Cover with a lid and cook for 5- 10 mins in low flame. 


        8) Stir in between.  Swith off the flame. 


         9) Spicy Potato podimas is ready to be served.
