Beetroot chapathi recipe with step by step pictures 


              Beetroot Chapathi  is a healthy indian breakfast recipe.  It is suitable for kids lunch box.  It is an easy way to include vegetables in kids food who dont likes to eat veggies.  This beetroot chapathi is very colourful and it is very appealing.  Kids love this chapathi.  It is a very easy to cook recipe.  The process of making this chapathi is the same as we cook for normal chapathi but we have to grind the beetroot and mix it with the wheat flour.  

            This beetroot chapathi is served with any kurmas,  gravies or curries but my favorite was to serve with onion raita.  It tastes delicious.  Do try this recipe.  Hope you like it.  Check out the beetroot chapathi recipe below with step by step pictures.

Ingredients   : 


.   Wheat flour/ Atta  -  2 cup 
.   Beetroot   -  1 medium sized ( grated)  
.   Ginger  -  2 inch pieces
.   Garlic  -  6 nos. 
.   Green chilli  -  1 
.   Oil  -  2 tsp
.   Cumin seeds  -  1 tsp 
.   Salt to taste 
.   Oil to drizzle over chapathi 

Method  : 


             1. Peel the skin of the beetroot and grate it.  Heat oil in a kadai.  Add cumin seeds,  ginger,  garlic and green chilli.  

           2. Saute for few secs.  Add grated beetroot.  Add little salt. Add 2 tblsp of water.  Saute for 2 mins until beetroot cooks well.  Switch off the flame. 
         3. Let it gets cooled.  Transfer to mixer jar.  Grind it to a smooth paste by adding little water.  

        4. Mix the ground paste with wheat flour.  Make it as a dough.  Apply a tsp of oil.  Rest it for 15 mins.  

        5. Make the dough into small dough balls.  Flatten the dough ball using rolling pin.  

        6. Heat the tawa.  Place the flatten dough on it.  Drizzle a tsp of oil.  Cook for few secs.  Flip it and again cook for few secs.  Cook both the sided until you get the brown dots over it.  

         7. Tasty and healthy beetroot chapathi is ready.

               Peel the skin of the beetroot 


Grate the beetroot 


Heat oil in a kadai


Add cumin seeds


After it sizzle,  add ginger,  garlic and green chilli.  Saute for few secs


Add grated beetroot 


Saute for few secs.  Add 2 tblsp of water


Add little salt


Saute until beetroot gets cooked.  Switch off the flame


Let it gets cooled. Trasfer to the mixer jar


Grind it to a smooth paste by adding little water


Take wheat flour in a mixing bowl


Add salt ( beetroot has salt and so add salt only for flour) 


Add ground paste


Make it as a dough ( add water if required)  


Apply a tsp of oil over it.  Rest it for 15 mins


Make the  dough into small dough balls


Take a dough ball 


Dust the dough ball with wheat flour and flatten it using rolling pin


Heat tawa. Place the flattened dough


Drizzle a tsp of oil around it


Cook for few secs


Flip it and again cook for few secs


Cook both the sides until you get brown dots over it.  Its ready


Tasty and healthy beetroot chapathi is ready to be served
