Capsicum rice recipe with step by step pictures 


                  Capsicum rice is ideal for lunch box.   It is very easy and tastes yummy.  It is similar to tomato rice,  that it tastes tangy and spicy.  The crunchyness of capsicum enhances the taste of this recipe.  It is a quick recipe that you can make it within 15 mins,  if you have cooked rice.  This recipe can also be tried with leftover rice.

Ingredients  :

.  Capsicum  -  1 big sized (finely chopped) 
.  Cooked rice  -  4 cup 
.  Onion  -  1 big onion (finely chopped) 
.  Ginger garlic paste  -  1 tblsp 
.  Tomato  -  2 big sized (finely chopped) 
.  Turmeric powder  -  1/2 tsp
.  Chilli powder  -  1 tblsp (i used kashmiri chilli powder to get the colour) 
.  Coriander powder  -  1 tblsp
.  Garam masala  -  1 tblsp
.  Oil  -  1 tblsp 
.  Cinnamon  -  2 
.  Cloves  -  4 
.  Salt to taste

Method  :

         Heat oil in a kadai.  Add chopped capsicum.  Saute for a min.  Keep it aside.  In the same kadai,  add whole spices. 

        After it sizzle,  add onion.  Saute until translucent.  Add ginger garlic paste.  Saute until raw smell goes out. 

       Add tomato, salt and turmeric powder.  Saute until mushy.  Add spice powders.  Saute until oil oozes out.  Add 1/4 cup water to cook the masalas. Cook for 5 min. 

       Add sauteed capsicum.  Mix well.  Cook for a min.  Add cooked rice.  Mix well.  Capsicum rice is ready. 


Pictorial   :

             1) Heat oil in a kadai. 


            2) Add chopped capsicum. 


          3) Saute for a min.


          4) Take it out and keep it aside. 


          5) In the same kadai,  add cinnamon and cloves. 


         6) After it sizzle,  add chopped onion. Saute until translucent.  


        7)  Add ginger garlic paste. Saute until raw smell goes out. 


        8) Add chopped tomato along with turmeric powder and salt. Saute until mushy. 


        9) Add chilli powder,  coriander powder and garam masala.   


        10) Mix well and cook until oil separates. 

       11) Add 1/4 cup water to cook the masalas. 

 
        12) cook for 5 mins in medium to low flame. 


        13) Add sauteed capsicum. 


        14)  Mix it and cook for a min. 


        13) Add cooked rice. 


        14) Mix well. (check for salt,  if required add now) 


        15) Capsicum rice is ready to be served.
