Bread upma recipe with step by step pictures
Bread upma is a south-indian breakfast recipe. It is a better alternative for the regular breakfast recipes. Bread upma can also be served as a evening time snack or it can be a kids lunch box recipe. It is a easy to cook recipe and differs from other upma. It can be served with tomato ketchup but my favorite is to have with onion raita. Do try at once and you love it.

Ingredients :
. Bread slices - 6
. Onion - 1 medium sized (finely chopped)
. Curry leaves - 1 sprig
. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tblsp
. Tomato - 1 medium sized (finely chopped)
. Vegetables (carrot, potato, green peas) - 1 cup (finely chopped)
. Oil - 1 tblsp
. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
. Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
. Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
. Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
. Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
. Salt to taste
. Coriander leaves to garnish
Method :
1. Toast the bread slices. Cut it into pieces. Keep it aside.
2. Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard seeds and urad dal. After it sizzle, add onion and curry leaves. Saute until translucent.
3. Add ginger garlic paste. Saute until raw smell goes out. Add tomato. Saute until mushy.
4. Add spice powders. Saute for a min. Add vegetables. Saute for 2 mins. Add 1 cup of water. Cook for 5 mins in medium flame.
5. Add bread slices. Mix well. Cover and cook for 3 mins in low flame. Give it a mix. Add coriander leaves. Switch off the flame. Bread upma is ready.

Toast the bread slices
Cut it into pieces. Keep it aside
Heat oil in a kadai
Add mustard seeds and urad dal
After it crackle, add finely chopped onion and curry leaves. Saute until onion becomes translucent
Add ginger garlic paste. Saute until raw smell goes out
Add finely chopped tomato
Saute until tomato becomes mushy
Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, cumin powder, garam masala and salt
Saute until oil oozes out
Add vegetables
Saute for 2 mins
Add 1 cup of water. Cook for 5 mins until veggies gets cooked
Add bread pieces ( it sucks the water)
Mix it well. Cover with lid and cook for 3 mins in low flame
Give it a mix. Add coriander leaves. Switch off the flame
Bread upma is ready to be served
