Mushroom biryani recipe with step by step pictures 


                Mushroom biryani is a one pot meal recipe.  It is a  very easy and tasty biryani.  It is perfect for lunch box. It is a quick recipe and can be done within 20 mins( except soaking time).  Since it is a one pot meal,  it would not mess your kitchen and it is perfect for a busy morning.  It is little spicy and adjust the quantity of masalas if you are cooking for kids.

Ingredients   : 


.   Mushroom   -  2 cup ( roughly chopped) 
.   Basmati rice  -  1 1/2 cup 
.   Onion  -   1 big sized ( finely chopped) 
.   Tomato  -  1 medium sized ( finely chopped) 
.   Ginger garlic paste  -  1 tblsp
.   Green chilli  -  1(slited) 
.   Curd  -  2 tblsl
.   Mint leaves   -  1/2 handful
.   Coriander leaves   -  2 tblsp  (finely chopped) 
.   Ghee  -  1 tblsp
.   Oil  -  1 tblsp
.   Cinnamon  -  2 
.   Cloves  -  4
.   Cardomom  -  2 
.   Bay leaf   -  2
.   Cumin seeds / jeera  -  1 tsp
.   Chilli powder  -  1 tsp
.   Coriander powder  -  1 1/2 tsp
.   Garam masala  -  1 tsp
.   Salt to taste


Method  : 


           1. Wash and Soak basmati rice for 20 mins.  Chop the mushrooms. 

          2. Heat ghee and oil in pressure cooker.  Add whole spices.  After it sizzle,  add onion and green chilli.  Saute until it becomes golden brown. 

        3. Add ginger garlic paste.  Saute until raw smell goes out.  Add tomato and salt.  Saute until mushy. 

       4. Add spice powders.  Saute until oil separates.  Add mushrooms.  Saute for 2 mins.  Add curd,  mint and coriander leaves. Saute for few secs.  

       5. Add the basmati rice.  Give it a mix.  Add water.  After it gets roll boil, cover with lid.  Pressure cook for 1 whistle.  

      6. After pressure releases,  fluff the biriyani with a fork.  Serve with raita.

         Wash and soak basmati rice for 20 -  30 mins.  


Drain the water


Chop the mushrooms 


Heat oil and ghee in a pressure cooker 


Add cinnamon, cloves, cardomom, bay leaf and cumin seeds


After it sizzle,  add sliced onion and green chilli


Saute until onion becomes golden brown 


Add ginger garlic paste.  Saute until raw smell goes out


Add tomato and salt


Saute until mushy


Add chilli powder,  coriander powder and garam masala


Saute until oil separates


Add mushrooms 


Saute for 2 mins


Add curd,  mint and coriander leaves 


Mix well for a min. 


Add rice


Mix well


Add water ( for 1 cup of basmati rice,  add 1 1/2 cup of water) 


Cover with lid.  Pressure cook for 1 whistle in medium flame


After pressure releases,  fluff the rice with a fork


Mushroom biryani is ready.  Serve with raita or your favorite sidedish
