Chicken chukka fry recipe with step by step pictures 



                Chicken chukka fry is a sidedish recipe for rice in south-indian non-vegetarian meal.  It is a dry curry and you can have it with chapathi, roti or as an accompaniment for rice.  I got this recipe from yummy tummy aarthi.  She had done mutton chukka using this method and i have made chicken chukka.  It tastes too good.  It is made with cooked chicken which i cooked for chicken soup.  

                Usually chicken soup is made with more chicken and serve with one or two pieces and the leftovers is used to make some other dish.  This chicken chukka is a quick and easy recipe and it has the strong flavour of freshly ground black pepper.   Do try this recipe and you love it.

Ingredients   : 


.   Cooked chicken with 1/2 cup soup  -  300 gms
.   Onion  -  1 medium sized  ( chopped lengthwise)  
.   Tomato  -  1 medium sized  ( chopped lengthwise)  
.   Oil  -  1 tblsp 
.   Fennel seeds  -  1 tsp
.   Cinnamon  -  2 
.   Cloves  -  4 
.   Ginger garlic paste  -  1 tblsp 
.   Turmeric powder   -  1/2 tsp
.   Chilli powder   -  1/2 tsp 
.   Coriander powder   -  1 tsp 
.   Cumin powder  -  1 tsp 
.   Garam masala  -  1 tsp 
.   Fried gram  -  2 tsp 
.   Black pepper cons  -  1 tsp 
.   Salt to taste 
.   Coriander leaves to garnish 

Method  : 


            1. Take the cooked chicken with 1/2 cup of soup. Keep it aside. 

            2. Heat oil in a kadai.  Add fennel seeds,  cinnamon and cloves.  After it sizzle,   add onion.  Saute until translucent. 

          3. Add ginger garlic paste.  Saute until raw smell goes out.  Add tomato.  Saute until mushy. 

          4. Add spice powders and salt.  Saute until oil separates.  Add chicken along with soup.  Mix well and keep the flame to low.  Cook until it gets dried.  

         5. In the meantime,  grind fried gram and black pepper cons in a mixer jar.  Add it to chicken. 

        6. Mix well and cook for 2 -  3 mins.  Switch off the flame.  Add coriander leaves.  Chicken chukka fry is ready.



Pictorial   : 


               Take cooked chicken along with 1/2 cup of Chicken soup  .  Keep it aside


Heat oil in a kadai


Add cinnamon, cloves and fennel seeds


After it splutters,  add onion.  Saute until it becomes translucent 


Add ginger garlic paste.  Saute until raw smell goes out


Add tomato.  Saute until mushy


Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder,  cumin powder, garam masala and salt


Saute until oil oozes out


Add chicken along with soup



             Mix well and cook in low flame
                     until it gets dried



In the meantime,  take fried gram and black pepper cons in a mixer jar


Grind it to a fine powder


Add it to the chicken 


Mix well and cook for 2 - 3 mins


Switch off the flame.  Add coriander leaves 


Chicken chukka fry is ready to be served
