Onion pakoda recipe with step by step pictures 


                   Onion pakora is a evening time snack recipe of south-india.  It is one of my favourite snack and i often make it for my husband.  It is very easy to cook recipe and takes little time.  Onion pakora is made with easily available ingredients in our pantry.  It is perfect for a tea time snack.  You can make it in the time of making a tea.  Do try at your home.

Ingredients   :

.   Onion  -  2 big sized (sliced) 
.   Gram flour  -  1 cup
.   Rice flour  -  1/4 cup
.   Curry leaves  -  2 sprig (finely chopped) 
.   Garlic cloves  -  6 (crushed) 
.   Salt to taste
.   Chilli powder  -  1 tsp
.   Asafoetida/ hing  -  1/2 tsp 
.   Oil for frying 

Method  : 


             1.  Slice the onion. Take it in a mixing bowl.  Add all the  other ingredients except oil.  Drizzle 4 tblsp of water.  Mix well.  

            2. The batter should be little thick.  Heat oil for frying.  Pinch the batter into oil.  Fry until it becomes golden brown.  

            3. Strain the pakora.  Serve it hot with a cup of tea.

              Slice the onion and take it in a mixing bowl


Add curry leaves and crushed garlic


Add gram flour, rice flour, chilli powder, hing and salt


Drizzle 4 tblsp of water.  Mix well.  The batter should be little thick.  Add more gram flour if needed


Heat oil for frying


Pinch the batter into oil.  (do not mind the shape) 


Keep the flame to medium.  Fry until golden brown.  Flip it to cook evenly.  


Strain the pakoda


Serve the onion pakora hot with a cup of tea.
