 Fried momos recipe with step by step pictures



               Fried momos is a easy and very tasty snack recipe. It can also be served as a starter. Momos can be made with different types of filling either veg Or non-veg. Today I have made fried momos with egg filling. Fried momos is simply made with steamed momos which is deep fried in oil. You can also serve the steamed momos alone with some momo chutney or sauce. If you have leftover momos then you go for this fried momos.

Ingredients  :


.  Oil for frying the momos

For outer layer :

.  Maida / all purpose flour  -  1 cup
.  Salt  -  1/2 tsp
.  Water to knead the flour

For the filling  :

.  Oil  -  2tsp
.  Onion  -  1 big sized  (finely chopped) 
.  Green chilli  -  1 (finely chopped) 
.  Salt to taste
.  Pepper powder  -  1 tsp
.  Garam masala  -  2 tsp


Method  :


           1.  Take maida in a bowl. Add salt. Add enough water to knead the dough. Rest it for 10 mins. 

           2. Heat oil in a kadai. Add finely chopped onion, green chilli. Saute until translucent. Add eggs into it. 

          3. Add garam masala, pepper powder and salt. Mix well. Scramble the egg well. Turn off the flame. Keep it aside. Let it cool for 5 mins. 

          4. Take a small ball of dough. Spread it into round shape. Place a tblsp of egg filling at center. 

          5. Pleat the dough and seal it (just like traditional kozhukattai). Similarly make all the dough balls into momos. 

          6. Heat the steamer or idli maker. Place the prepared momos into it. Cover with lid and cook for 5 - 10 mins. 

           7. Now the steamed momos are ready. You can serve it hot with some momos chutney. 

           8. After the momos getting cooled, Heat oil in a kadai for deep frying. Put the steamed momos into hot oil. 

           9. Fry the momos until golden brown. Strain the momos . Fried momos are ready and serve it hot with momos chutney.

               Take maida in a mixing bowl


                              Add salt to it 


        Add enough water and knead it to make stiff dough. Rest it for 10 mins. 


                        Heat oil in a kadai


      Add finely chopped onion and green chilli


            Saute until onion becomes translucent


                         Add 3 eggs into it 


             Add garam masala, pepper powder and salt to it


       Scramble the eggs well. Keep it aside. Let it cool for 5 mins


               Take a small dough ball


Spread it to medium round shape


           Place a tblsp of egg filling at center


                 Apply water around the edges


               Make pleats and seal it to get momos


          Similarly make all the momos


                  Heat steamer or idli maker


                    Place the momos into it


            Cover with lid and cook for 5 - 10 mins


          Now the steamed momos are ready. You can serve it hot with momos chutney


        To make fried momos, heat oil in a kadai for deep frying


            Put the steamed momos into hot oil ( the steamed momos must get cooled before frying) 


           Fry all the sides until golden brown. Strain the momos



           Yummy and tasty fried momos are ready. Serve it with some momos chutney.
