Carrot beans poriyal recipe with step by step pictures 


           Carrot beans poriyal is a famous poriyal recipe and it is often cooked in most of  the homes.  Carrots and beans goes well with each other.  It is a ideal combination that we can cook for poriyal,  sambar,  gravy,  kuruma,  biriyani,  pulao,  brinji,  fried rice, etc.,   Whatever the dish it is,  these two makes the food greater.  My mom makes it for all our festive vegetarian lunch.  It tastes too good and it is a quick recipe.  I have added chilli powder in this recipe.  You can substitute it with dry red chillies too.

Ingredients   :

.   Carrot, beans   -  2 cup ( chopped finely) 
.   Onion  -  1 medium sized ( chopped finely) 
.   Curry leaves   -  1 sprig
.   Oil  -  2 tsp
.   Mustard seeds  -  1 tsp
.   Urad dal  -  1 tsp
.   Chana dal  -  1 tsp
.   Grated coconut   -  2 tblsp
.   Chilli powder  -  1 tsp (as per your taste) 
.   Salt to taste 


Method  :


           1. Cut the edges of carrot and beans.  Peel the skin of carrot.  Chop it finely. 

           2. Heat oil.  Add mustard seeds,  urad dal and chana dal.  After it crackle,  add onion and curry leaves. 

          3. Saute until onion becomes translucent.  Add chopped carrot and beans. 

         4. Saute for a min.  Add chilli powder and salt.  Mix for few secs.  Add 1 cup of water.  

          5. Cover and cook until veggies gets cooked.  Add grated coconut.  Toss well for a min.  Carrot beans poriyal is ready.

             1) Cut the edges of carrot and beans.  Peel the skin of carrots. 


            2) Chop the carrot and beans finely. 


3) Heat oil in a kadai.                    


          4) Add mustard seeds, urad dal and chana dal.


5) After it splutters and turns to golden brown,  add finely chopped onion and curry leaves. 


6) Saute until onion becomes translucent. 


7) Add chopped Carrot and beans. 


8) Saute for a min. 


9) Add chilli powder and salt. 


10) Mix well for a min. 


11) Add 1 cup of water to it. 


12) Cover and cook until water gets dried and veggies cooked well. 


13) Add grated coconut. 


14) Toss well for a min.  Switch off the flame. 


15) Carrot beans poriyal is ready to be served.
