Beetroot poori recipe with step by step pictures 


                Beetroot Poori is a healthy breakfast recipe.  It is a easy to cook recipe and it is a better way to include beetroot in kids food who doesn't like to eat beetroot.  I just sauteed some grated beetroot with few more ingredients and pureed it to mix with whole wheat flour.  Then i make poori in usual methods.  I have already posted the Beetroot chapathi recipe using this method.  Check out that too.  Both tastes too good.  Do try at your home and let me know how it turns out to you.

Ingredients   :


.   Beetroot   -  1 big sized 
.   Wheat flour  -  2 cup
.   Oil  -  2 tsp
.   Cumin seeds / jeera  -  1 tsp
.   Ginger  -  2 inch pieces
.   Garlic  -  4 nos. 
.   Green chilli  -  1 
.   Salt to taste
.   Oil for frying poori

Method  : 


             1. Peel the skin of beetroot.  Grate the beetroot.  

             2. Heat oil in a kadai.  Add cumin seeds,  ginger,  garlic and green chilli.  Saute for few secs. 

           3. Add grated beetroot.  Saute for a min.  Add 2 tblsp of water and salt.  Cook for 3 -  4 mins.  Let it cool. 

          4. Grind the beetroot to smooth paste.  Add it to wheat flour along with salt.  Make it as a dough. 

         5. Apply a tsp of oil.  Rest it for 15 mins.  Make the dough into small dough balls.  

        6. Flatten the dough ball using rolling pin.  Heat oil for frying.  Drop the flattened dough and make poori.  

        7. Healthy and tasty beetroot poori is ready.  Serve with your favorite sidedish.

                 Peel the skin of beetroot 


Grate the beetroot 


Heat oil in a kadai


Add cumin seeds


After it crackle,  add ginger,  garlic and green chilli.  Saute for few secs


Add grated beetroot 


Saute for a min


Add little salt and 2 tblsp of water


Cook for 3 - 4 mins


Let it cool and transfer to the mixer jar


Grind it to a smooth paste without lumps


Take wheat flour in a mixing bowl


Add salt ( beetroot has some salt and so add salt as required) 


Add beetroot puree


Knead the flour to make a soft dough


Apply a tsp of oil over it.  Rest it for 15 mins


Make the dough into small dough balls


Take a dough ball.  Dust with flour


Flatten the dough ball using rolling pin



Similarly flatten all the dough balls


Heat oil for frying


Drop the flattened dough.  Gently Press it with laddle.  Cook for few secs until it puffs


Flip it and cook for few secs.  Strain and Take it out


Healthy and tasty beetroot poori is ready to be served.  I served it with Vegetable white kurma
